Former Bayelsa Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is Dead

Former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, is dead.

According to Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Esueme Dan-Kikili, Alamieyeseigha died of cardiac arrest on Saturday. He had reportedly slipped into a coma on Thursday and was placed on life support.

A 2013 request by the British government for Alamieyeseigha’s extradition to stand trial for fraud charges, was recently revived in the media. It has not been confirmed if the former Bayelsa governor’s ailment has any connection to the reports being circulated.
