Group Reacts To Lai Mohammed’s Ministerial Nomination

Alhaji Lai Mohammed nomination as minister by President Muhammadu Buhari has been greeted with extreme commendation.

According to a group known as Kwara South United Forum, the nomination of Lai Mohammed, the national publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress Party (APC) as a minister, has highlighted Buhari’s commitment to merit, competence and fairness in political considerations, Vanguard reports.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by retired Maj-Gen, Yemi Abidoye, the convener of the forum and Rotimi Ogunwuyi, the forum’s interim legal adviser.

“We have no doubt in the capacity of Lai Mohammed to live up to the expectations of both President Buhari, people of Kwara and Nigerians.

“He is an excellent, bilingual public relations expert, a lawyer, a bundle of intellectualism and political savvy.

“We urged the distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to demonstrate high commitment to national political ideals by screening the ministerial nominees dispassionately.’’

The forum however advised the APC spokesman to justify the confidence the Kwara people and Nigerians have on him, if he’s eventually appointed minister.

It also vowed to monitor Mohammed’s performance in public office whenever he began his national political assignment.

The Senate on Tuesday, October 6, commenced the reading of persons in the ministerial list submitted to it by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Confirming the list, Saraki called out Lai Mohammed’s name as part of nominees on the list alongside former governors, Chris Ngige, Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola.
