Luke Shaw: Manchester United defender denies gay rumours

England left-back, Luke Shaw took to Twitter to deny the rumour that he is gay

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has denied the rumours going on the internet that he is gay.

The rumours were prompted by a report from the UK Mirror that two English Premier League footballers are planning to come to come public with their homosexuality.

After the reports, internet trolls came up with the rumour that one of the players was Shaw.

The England left-back however took to Twitter to deny the rumour. "It's not me so everyone can shut up now," he said.

 

The last EPL footballer to public declare as gay was former Norwich and Nottingham Forest striker Justin Fashanu, who public revealed as gay in 1990.

Eight years later, and facing charges of sexual assault in the United States, he committed suicide.

 

Shaw is currently recovering from a broken leg which he sustained in a UEFA Champions League game against PSV.

The 20-year-old is expected to be out of action until March, 2016.

Former Everton and Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger in 2014 came out as gay though he had retired as at that time.
