Victor Attah: Former governor announces retirement from politics
Attah, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the announcement on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah has announced his retirement from politics.
Attah, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the announcement on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
He however said that his retirement shouldn’t be seen as a defection to the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).
“I can formally state that I have quit partisan politics to play the role of an elder statesman and to continue to serve this country with love, strength, and faith with integrity to the best of my ability,” Attah said while addressing a press conference in Uyo, the state capital.
“Let nobody take this to mean that I want to remain in the PDP or therefore jump to the opposite conclusion that I am going over to APC or any other party for that matter,” he added.
Attah was governor of the state from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007.
