The ruling party in the state raised the alarm on Thursday, November 13, over a plot by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to deliberately misinform the public about the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal, Daily Sun reports.

Charles Esonu, the state secretary of the PDP, in a statement accused the opposition APGA of making plans to go to town with reports that judges of the governorship election petition tribunal which sat in Abia were compromised to arrive at their judgment.

The state party scribe said: “This is sequel to the nocturnal meetings they have been holding, first, at Enugu chaired by a sitting deputy governor in a state in the South-East and secondly, at Owerri in a meeting chaired by a sitting governor of a state in the South-East.

“The party in Abia state therefore wishes to inform members of the public to be alert on the antics of these disgruntled and desperate politicians and be wary of being deceived.

“The governor of Abia state will stay focused towards the delivery of quality services to Nde-Abia and will not be distracted by these disoriented actions of frustrated individuals.

“The general public is, hereby, advised to ignore the propaganda and spurious allegations of a drowning political party which has since failed to realise that the era of propaganda is long gone.”

The state governorship tribunal had upheld the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, subsequently dismissing the petition of Alex Otti, APGA’s candidate.

But the APGA had kept criticising the Tuesday, November 3 judgement, describing it as regrettable.

Reacting after the , Otti criticized the verdict, adding that the tribunal had again scuttled the people’s hope and desire for positive change.
