PHOTOS: Celebrated Music Star Undergoes Surgery

The scion of Afrobeat maestro Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, underwent an emergency surgery at The Lagoon Hospital in Lagos on Sunday, November 22.

His elder sister Yeni posted a photo of him while he lay in his hospital bed recuperating. Femi has been discharged from the hospital and will be at home recuperating for some weeks.

Yeni wrote: “Femi Kuti after the operation. Smiling, high on morphine. It’s a morphine thing.”

His ex-wife and mother of his son Made, Funke who seems to be around during the surgery also shared a video clip of him leaving the hospital. She also joked about Femi composing new songs while he was intoxicated with pain medication.

“Baba Made. Femi after his emergency surgery today. We thank God for his life. Everything went well and he is Home bound still strong.. Discharged this evening . Omo Baba E! Always strong no matter what they are going through. Kai !!! I have some very funny videos o when he was still high on morphine after the surgery!!! Hilarious. . I won’t post them yet till he is stronger. Thank you for all the prayers, messages, phone calls etc. God Bless. He composed like 10 songs in his pain killer morphine induced state! And the beat goes on. Watch out”

While many of his fans are praying for his quick recovery, the cause of the emergency surgery is yet to be known.

Femi Kuti alongside his other siblings celebrated their father’s annual post-humus birthday tagged Felabration in October.
