APC Suffers Huge Loss: READ What 500 Women Did To The Party

No fewer than 500 women in Udaba community, Etsako Central local government area of Edo state have dumped their parties for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The women from the Social Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress (APC) said they were defecting to the party that would take Edo to a higher level, The Nation reports.

The defectors were received by Chief Dan Orbih, the state chairman of the party.

He encouraged them to mobilize support for the party, saying the PDP government in Edo would make women empowerment and welfare a priority.

According to him, the governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole was a stranger in the state and he was planning to replace himself with another stranger as the governor.

He said Oshiomhole would be leaving hardship and huge debt burden on the state.

Also speaking, a former commissioner for Lands and Survey under Oshiomhole, Donald Boi Osikena who defected to the PDP last year, said he dumped the APC because his responsibilities as commissioner were toppled by the governor.

“My ministry was being run from the government house. Approvals for lands and certificate of occupancy were being issued from government house without informing me. I reasoned that I didn’t want to go to jail early in life, so I left,” he said.

There has been a lot of cross-carpeting in recent times. Members of the PDP and other rival parties have been defecting en masse to the ruling APC, while in some states, others have been defecting to the PDP.

Abike Dabiri described the mass defection of members of the PDP to the APC as a show of shame, saying those who had been cross-carpeting were nothing but “political prostitutes.”
