Don’t Try To Remove Fayose Or… – Buhari Gets Warning From Ekiti Assembly
The Ekiti state House of Assembly has warned the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government against any attempt to impeach the state governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The assembly on Tuesday, January 19 said the Ekiti people would resist any attempt by Buhari’s administration to use the report of the indictment of some military officers who participated in the conduct of the last governorship election in the state to impeach Fayose, This Day reports.
Passing a vote of confidence on Fayose over his contributions to national politics and criticism of Buhari’s government, the assembly claimed there were plans by the federal government to resort to extra-judicial means if the military panel fails to achieve its set target.
“We are aware of the plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government to intimidate, muzzle and kill the voice of the opposition most especially Governor Fayose because of his position on national issues,” it stated.
The assembly also accused the military of being bias for restricting its findings to Ekiti state and exonerating officers who participated in Osun and Edo states polls.
The assembly said it was aware of an alleged effort to cause constitutional crisis in the state and take over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led state government forcefully.

Eight resolutions were passed at the end of the sitting.
The speaker of the House in a speech presented by Hon Gboyega Aribisogan on his behalf at a press conference after the session said, the June 21 election that brought Fayose to power was adjudged to be free, fair and credible by both local and international observers.
Also, all security agencies including the military that monitored the election were commended by observers.
He wondered why the institution which was applauded and commended for its good conduct and professionalism is now being indicted by its own men.
Also speaking, Hon Samuel Omotoso said: “Fayose as an official voice of the opposition won’t be cowed by any force.
“Fayose had earlier prophesied that there will be increase in electricity tariff, disrespect for human dignity and rights, loss of lives in Bayelsa State governorship polls, removal of subsidy and all these had come to pass under Buhari-led government.”

Some weeks back, he challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to act on petitions submitted to it against chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Buhari’s election sponsors.
Meanwhile, Some youths in Ekiti state under the aegis of Ekiti Kete Youths Forum have called for the probe of the Fayose-led administration.
