Veteran Nigerian actor cum director, Fred Amata is currently gunning for the seat of the president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria.
Currently occupied by Andy Amenechi, Fred joined the race to battle popular director cum producer, Lancelot Imasuen.
Fred, who is from the Amata clan that has become one of the synonymous families in the Nigerian movie industry, hinted that what the guild currently needs is 'a visionary leadership that can spearhead reforms and harness the collective power of the individual strengths in the guild.'
Unveiling his decision to run for the seat at his campaign secretariat, Fred said, "Dearest colleagues. film makers, film enthusiast and film stakeholders, my name is Fred Amata. permit me to formally inform you that I am running for president of the Director's Guild of Nigeria. the Directors Guild of Nigeria is by its nature the Apex guild in our phenomenal Nollywood."
Continuing, he said, 'A visionary leadership that can spearhead reforms and harness the collective power of our individual strengths is what we need. A stronger DGN is a stronger environment for the practice of our art. I implore you to pray for me and support me towards this noble aspiration. God bless.'
