Deaconess Bessie Ikpeazu, mother to Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu was laid to rest yesterday, January 29 in Umuobiakwa community, Obingwa council area of Abia state.
Her burial was attended by governors, senators and other top dignitaries.
Rochas Okorocha, the governor of Imo state who represented President Muhammadu Buhari led the dignitaries, Vanguard reports.
In attendance were deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu; Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose; Cross River state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade; Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Udom Emmanuel; Ebonyi State governor, Chief Dave Umahi and others.
Speaking at the occasion, Ekweremadu said the deceased had lived a fulfilled life on earth and gone back to her creator.
He noted that death was inevitable and beyond human remedy, adding that it was a fulfillment of God’s design for man on earth.

Governor Ayade told the congregation that the pains of losing a mother was too great a load to bear and urged the Ikpeazu family not to cry any longer but to be consoled that their god-fearing mother was resting in the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Governor Fayose of Ekiti State urged the bereaved family not to cry again, knowing that their mother was not dead.
Bessie Ikpeazu (Nee Nwagwu) died last year December after a brief illness at the age of 87. Before her death, she served as the Nursing Supervisor for the Motherless Babies Home, Adventist Hospital, Aba.
