NASFAT: 'Our religion has zero tolerance for corruption'

"For us, as NASFAT, as Muslims, Almighty Allah enjoins us that when they put something in our care, we guide it with our lives. We do not make use of people's property."

The Nasrul-lahi-l-Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) has backed the anti-corruption crusade of President Mohammadu Buhari's administration, saying it is in sync with the teachings of Islam.

President of the society, Engr. Mohammed Kamil Bolarinwa said that the society has Zero Tolerance for corruption.

Bolarinwa said this during the celebration of 21 years existence of NASFAT at its headquarters in Lagos.

The NASFAT president expressed the support of the society to the war against corruption, saying, "Our religion has zero tolerance for corruption. For us, as NASFAT, as Muslims, Almighty Allah enjoins us that when they put something in our care, we guide it with our lives. We do not make use of people's property. If you give me money to keep for you, no matter what happens, it is the same unit of the money you gave me that I will deliver to you; that's a Muslim."

He called on Nigerians to be patient with the present government at the centre as it addresses the myriads of challenges facing the country, urging each and every individual to also look inward to see how they can assist the government.

He cautioned against the continued linking of the activities of terrorists' groups globally with the religion of Islam, saying that the activities of a few misguided individuals could not be generalised as representing the view of the entire Muslims.

He said, "Our religion says the best among you are those with the best morals, the best attitude and that is what we preach.

"If this country is going to be peaceful, if this country is going to be economically buoyant, we must look inward individually at what we can do for ourselves, not sitting down, expecting what our nation can do for us."
