TV personality Piers Morgan has issued an apology on Twitter after he fell victim to a death prank which claimed artist and TV presenter Tony Hart passed away on January 2nd, 2016. Apparently, Tony died in 2009.
The famous Arsenal FC fan posted his condolence on twitter this morning when he had the news of Tony’s death, and never bothered to confirm the news accuracy. Hart died in January 2009.
“RIP Tony Hart, very sad news. Taught millions of kids to be creative - wonderful legacy,” he tweeted.
After he realised his mistake, the Good Morning Britain presenter quickly deleted the post and apologised. But it was too late!
“My apologies. Tony Hart died in 2009. Apparently some idiots think it's funny to kill him off again on social media every year. It's not.”
His followers found it hilarious and started ridiculing him for not been informed adequately. The same prank was played in February, 2015 about the death of Tony Hart.
