Buhari: President sacks more budget office staff
Sources say Mr. President’s move was aimed at dislodging the so-called budget mafia in that department.
President Buhari has ordered the sack and reposting of some staff of the budget office, following the discrepancies identified in the document.
This is following the sack of the Director-General (DG) of the Budget Office of the Federation, Yahaya Gusau, and subsequent appointment of Tijani Abdullahi as the new DG.
A source who spoke to Punch, said Mr. President’s move was aimed at dislodging the so-called budget mafia in that department.
The source said “The President is really angry over the discrepancies discovered in the 2016 budget. It has been confirmed that it was a clear case of sabotage. It was said to have been carried out by a budget mafia whose members are strongly enshrined in the office.
“The President’s decision is that the former Director-General should not be the only casualty in this matter.”
Adding that “He (Buhari) has ordered that the Budget Office should be purged. Many of the officials there will be sacked while others will be transferred to other places other than where they have already constituted themselves to a mafia.”

Reports say the budget mafia’s aim was to paint the current administration in bad light.
The Budget Office of the Federation was established to provide budget function, implement budget and fiscal policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
