The former vice president Namadi Sambo’s aide on political matters, Abba Dabo, has dismissed reports that he had been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in connection with the ongoing investigation into the $2.1bn arms cash.

The PDP spokesman is standing trial for allegedly receiving N400 million from Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), the former national security adviser.
He disclosed that having discovered that the funds emanated from office of the former NSA and was meant for arms purchases, he had hurriedly returned the funds to the EFCC.
Dabo added further that prior to the media linking the source of the money given to him to the NSA, he had no idea that the source of the money was shady.

He also denied ever being arrested by the EFCC on January 11 this year or at any other time by the law enforcement agency in connection with the N25 million.
Dabo said: “I wish to say that I was never arrested by the EFCC or any other law enforcement agency on the said date. I am a law-abiding citizen of this great country and I have always done my best to operate within the ambit of the law and will never therefore do anything to break the law of Nigeria.”
In a related development, the counsel to the embattled spokesman of the PDP, Olisa has asked the court to sanction the EFCC.
At the hearing of the infringement of human rights case against the EFCC by Metuh, Ifedayo Adedipe said the anti-graft agency in its press statement misled the public on the court proceedings in the ongoing criminal trial of his client.
Adedipe told the court that the EFCC deliberately excluded major facts of court proceedings in its press statement released on Tuesday, February 9.
