Premier League club still owes salaries despite help from League Management Company

– Warri Wolves still owes salaries of players who have left the club already

– The team has  received reward money from the League Management Company (LMC) for their second place finish last season.

Nigerian Premier League side Warri Wolves are still indebted to as many as six players despite collecting reward money from the League Management Company (LMC) for their second place finish last season.

Former Warri Wolves player Lordson Ichull tasks the LMC to take players welfare seriously.

Ther team finished second to Enyimba in the league last season under Paul Aigbogun who has since moved to Enyimba.

Players complained to the media many times last season of the club’s inability to pay salaries.

The club has however received reward money from the LMC but players still complain that they are yet to be paid their salaries or bonuses or rewards.

According to goal.com, some players like Ichull Lordson, Joseph Osadiaye, Oghenekaro Etebo, Mine Ojo, Omofoman Freedom and Stanley Dimgba – whose contracts have expired and have moved onto pastures have not been paid.

A player who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the LMC failed to fulfill a promise of playing players their salaries personally by giving the club the money.

The player also revealed the discussions between players and club which have yet to bear fruit.

He said: “Warri Wolves owe me about N6 million and the same club is registering and transferring players when LMC ruled that indebted clubs will not be allowed to register new players.

“I was to earn N525,000 monthly in the contract I signed but I was only paid N130,000 for ten months . We, the players, had an understanding with the club to be paid part of our salary and that the balance will be paid as accumulated salaries.

“My monthly salary of N395,000 times ten and two months’ salary will give you N5 million, then add my unpaid league and continental match bonuses,” another player said.
