Christians in Lagos are joining their counterparts all over the world in celebrating the traditional Ash Wednesday.

The celebration which precedes Lent, the Christian fasting season is celebrated today, February 10.

Ash Wednesday which is popular among the catholic is marked by sprinkling or marking the forehead with ash. Some Lagosians were spotted this morning in catholic churches with their forehead visibly marked with ash.

Some parents were also seen taking their children to church to get their forehead marked.

Ash Wednesday alongside the fasting period of Lent are all part of the ceremony that precede the Easter period
