Yahaya Bello inherited votes to be governor of Kogi state – Ngige

– Minister of labour and productivity, Chief Chris Ngige is known for his bluntness

– At the solemn occasion of the burial of his subordinate and junior minister, James Ocholi, Ngige tried to liven up the crowd filled with sad people

– Among other jokes he shared, he jokingly said Governor Yahaya Bello inherited votes to be the governor of Kogi state

It was not all tears, crying and wailing at the funeral of the late minister of state for labour and productivity, James Ocholi, his wife; Blessing and son, Joshua.

Ngige who was giving the vote of thanks at the end of the event, virtually joked about every personality he recognised.

Speaking on the support the Ocholi burial committee got from Governor Yahaya Bello, Ngige referred to the Kogi state chief executive, as ”a governor who inherited votes”.

He said: ”On behalf of the burial committee of the late James Ocholi, we want to thank Governor Yahaya Bello for the support he gave us.

”Whatever support we requested from the governor he gave us without hesitation. He is a lucky man, he is a child of circumstance. He is a governor that inherited votes and whether anyone likes it not, he will remain as governor at least for the next four years.”

Ngige’s comments elicited laughter from the crowd and even drawing a smile from Governor Bello himself.

Governor Bello ascension into power came as as result of the then governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

because he came second at the primary election of the party leading to the gubernatorial polls.
