ICPC tells Nigerians what to do with corrupt politicians

– The ICPC called on Nigerians to report cases to the commission

– It promised to protect whistleblowers

– It revealed that attempts are being made to begin the war on corruption from the grassroot

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has urged Nigerians to report corrupt politicians and practices to the commission.

PM News reports that this call was made by Mr Stephen Pimor who is the ICPC commissioner for Oyo/Ogun zone in Ibadan on Thursday, April 28.

He assured that the commission will investigate credible petitions and that whistle-blowers will be fully protected.

“We urge our people to furnish the commission with useful information on corrupt practices around them.

“Let me also inform them that we investigate credible and anonymous petitions in the case of those who have useful information but doesn’t want their identity disclosed.”

He said the ICPC was currently investigating several petitions that it had received but was not ready to publish the findings yet as it would be premature to do so.

“We have received some petitions and they are under investigation. I am very sure some of the petitions would be recommended for trial.”

Pimor solicited maximum support from the media and security agencies in fighting corruption to a standstill as preached by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ICPC commissioner also said he had visited the National Youth Service Corps camp in Iseyin to enlighten corps members on the need to stamp out corruption from the country.

He said that the commission was interested in starting the anti-corruption crusade from the grassroots and enlighten youth clubs and other associations on the fight against corruption.

The most worrisome was the case of Zamfara that applied for N32.5 billion but had only received N10 billion to pay its workers. Investigation revealed that the state did not owe any worker.
