Traders in the Ogbe-Ijoh Iron market in Warri, Delta are crying foul following the destruction of their shops by an early morning inferno.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the fire started around 2am on Wednesday, April 13 and destroyed about 80 stores.

It was reported that the market which was constructed during the administration of Chief James Ibori has not been inaugurated but has been occupied illegally by traders and street boys.
Food items were destroyed in the fire and the fish section was particularly affected. It was also reported that wads of cash kept in the stores were burnt.
Several sympathizers were seen bemoaning the situation while some of the affected traders were seen packing the rubbles of blocks and zinc.
Madam Philo whose store was affected by the fire claimed the tragic incident was beyond ordinary as their wares ware stolen before the fire started.

She said in Pidgin English: “na person call me when I take reach here this morning, for all here na fish, big dried and fresh fish we dey sell.”
Celestina Kalu who is the police public relations officer in the state confirmed the incident. She added that no life was lost in the inferno.
In a related development, at least 30 shops worth millions of naira have been swept away by a fire which spread through Gwarzo market in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano state.
