Police in Rivers state bans all forms of youth elections in the state
The commissioner for police, Rivers state police command, has banned all forms of youth elections in the state, until further notice, due to the unfavourable prevailing security circumstances in the state.
In a statement signed by ASP Grace Koko on behalf of the Rivers state commissioner for police, the command warned that, “any person or group of persons who flouts this order, will face the full wrath of law. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”

The command however enjoined all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses, as trouble makers shall be decisively dealt with. The command said it is indebted to members of the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation.
The level of insecurity in Rivers state, which necessitated the police to say there will not been anything like youth elections for now, could be justified, as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Lucky Ajie was shot dead by some unknown gunmen in his country home, Okposi, in Rivers state. Sources said, he was trailed and murdered in front of his compound on Thursday, April 28.
