Jamie Vardy is interested in a move to Arsenal, French striker Olivier Giroud has revealed.

According the former Montepellier man, informants claim Vardy has told close associates that a move to Arsenal would interest him.

The Gunners triggered the release clause in the Leicester City striker’s contract and it is believed Arsene Wenger wants to confirm the 29 year old’s signing Vardy and the rest of the England squad fly to France for Euro 2016 on Monday.

Claudio Ranieri told Gazzetta dello Sport that “it’s all true” when asked about Arsenal’s interest.

“I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it’s very good news for us. I think we can be complimentary and that’s all I can say,” Giroud told Sky Sports News.

“He’s a fantastic player, so it’s good news for us.”

Giroud revealed Wenger is interest in one or two strikers ahead of next season.

“The boss wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester.”
