– Saraki’s push for the withdrawal of Danladi Umar from the case is said to be key to the adjournment

– The Senate president claims that with a case lingering at the EFCC, Umar had no moral standing to judge him

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has adjourned till Wednesday, July 13. This decision was taken after the judge said he will be travelling tomorrow, Wednesday, June 22 so will not be available for sitting.

At the tribunal, the lawyers argued a motion from Senate president Bukola Saraki, asking the presiding judge, Danladi Umar to withdraw from the case.

Saraki had earlier asked Umar to withdraw from the case due to his case with the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

But on Thursday, April 21, Umar had thrown away the application by the Senate president asking him to withdraw from the trial.

In the application, Saraki argued that the CCT chairman was biased but was thrown away bu Umar.

Again, Saraki on Wednesday, June 15, asked Danladi Umar to withdraw from the case.

Kanu Agabi, the lead counsel to Saraki filed another application asking Umar to withdraw from the case.

However the case was adjourned till Tuesday, June 21.

Saraki who has been undergoing trial since September 22, 2015 was charged with 16 counts of corruption.
