The Department of Security Service (DSS) has arrested five persons allegedly connected with the creation of training cells for the terrorist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to Premium Times, the state director of SSS, Abdullahi Chiranchi, told journalists in Kano on Thursday, June 9, that the suspects were arrested on their way to Libya and other African countries.

Chiranchi described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in blocking every possible move to make Kano a training ground for ISIS.

The state director said those arrested were from Kogi state and were moving to Libya, Morocco and other places with ISIS presence.

Similarly, Chiranci paraded gangs of international rustlers, armed robbers, kidnappers and car Snatchers alleged to have been terrorising Kano, Kaduna and residents of Niger Republic.

Meanwhile, officials of the United States government have said there was no clear evidence to show that the Nigerian terror group, Boko Haram, has major link with ISIS, adding that Boko Haram was merely using its avowed allegiance to ISIS for branding.

In a related development, the Nigerian army has carried out the joint clearance operation to destroy the Boko Haram enclaves in several villages in Bama local government area of Borno state.

This was contained in a statement made available to NAIJ.com by the army spokesman Sani Usman.

The villages comprise Kircha Goniye, Wujjah Alkelu, Kita Jiddum, Jameri, Geri Gana, Gere Kura and Jabe. Other villages cleared by the troops were Hasana Jere and Chachile. During the operation, own troops came in contact with elements of the terrorists group during which 2 of the terrorists were killed.
