Crystal Palace have signed Christian Benteke from Liverpool for a club record fee.

The Belgian international signed a  four-year deal with the London club.

Benteke celebrates his strike against Leicester City in the Premier League last season

Benteke has become Palace’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Steve Mandanda.

After signing his Palace contract, Benteke said: “I’m very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace and I’m looking forward to meeting the manager, the players and the staff.

“I feel really happy that the deal has been done and now I can look forward.”

According to the Mirror, the striker was signed for £27million with add-ons that could see it rise to £30million, meaning the Reds will recoup almost all of the £32.5million they shelled out to Aston Villa for the 25-year-old last summer.

Palace’s previous bid had been £23million with £7million worth of add-ons, but the Reds rejected it.
