A man who wanted divorce with his wife informed a customary court sitting in Lagos on Thursday, August 18 saying “My wife is a thief, on severally occasions, she stole my money from my wardrobe, rendering me broke.”
The 45-year-old year businessman by the name Livinus Uwa went to an Igando customary court sitting at an interior area of Lagos state calling for an end to his four-year-old marriage to his wife who he called “resident thief.”

“I married a thief …the last time she burgled my room and stole N350, 000. I reported the theft at the police station and she confessed to the theft, but the money was not recovered,” Uwa added.
While speaking about his estranged wife, Chineye, the businessman said his wife had a daughter for him in their four-year-old union. Furthermore, the petitioner blamed his spouse who was conspicuously absent in the court after series of invitation of deserting him.

While narrating what transpired between both parties, Uwa said: “Since we got married, my wife has been always appearing and disappearing.
“When she was pregnant, she left the house to an unknown place and came back after she was delivered of the baby.
“She abandoned our baby when she was 10 months old; I have to engage a baby sitter to take care of her. When the baby was two years old, I enrolled her in school and my wife reappeared.”
In addition, the divorce-seeking husband described Chineye as a lazy and dirty woman. Uwa informed the court saying “Chineye is lazy, she cannot cook, wash or sweep, I do the house chores.
“I have reported all her attitudes and stealing habits to both families, they called her but she refused to change.”
The man begged the court to terminate their matrimony saying “I am no longer in love. Please, dissolve this marriage; I can no longer condone her stealing habits.”
The president of the customary court Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the divorce suit till Tuesday, September 20 for ruling.
About a week ago, Simon Akor, a middle-aged man revealed before a customary court at Nyanya area Abuja that his wife, Patricia, often ask for money before allowing him to have sex with her.
