Rio Olympics: Five outstanding performers in Nigeria’s squad

So far so good for the Dream Team VI as the Samson Siasia led team have proven beyond reasonable doubt that they are contenders for the Rio Olympic gold medal.

As expected, the U-23 team has toppled their opponents following brilliant displays especially in their first two matches owing to the presence of key players in the squad.

Here are the five most outstanding players in the group stage

2. Sadiq Umar: A new discovery into the youth side have cemented his place in the starting XI owing to his eye-catching performances for the Dream Team during the first round of the tournament.

3. Oghenekaro Etebo: He has been the stand out performer so far at the Games scoring four of the five goals in the Japan match and a man of the match display against Sweden, scouts will be lurking for the player’s signature.

Etebo in the match against Sweden showed that he could play any part in the front line and also recover to support the midfield when opponents are on the attack.

4. Okechukwu Azubike: The young lad is sounding a note of warning to defensive midfielders in the Super Eagles following his commanding role in the midfield and his hard work to win back balls.

5. William Ekong: Another commanding performance in the defence line is Ekong who showed class and composure when playing the role of the sweeper which gives others confidence.
