Imoke: I have no ambition to be PDP national chairman

by Ranti Joseph

Gov-Liyel-Imoke

With the crisis happening within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) top shots, there have been rumours making rounds that Governor of Cross River State Liyel Imoke, would be a likely replacement of the national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu.

Imoke has come out to address the issue, describing as unfounded, rumours that he is interested in becoming the national chairman of his party.

He said he had been given the rare opportunity by God to serve Nigeria in different capacities and with that hopes to retire to private life on the expiration of his tenure as governor and as such harboured no ambition of becoming the national chairman of the PDP as widely speculated.

Imoke, who spoke with journalists at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, shortly after returning from Abuja also restated his desire to ensure he cleared all outstanding salary owed workers in the state before leaving office.

Workers in the state are yet to be paid for months. Staffs of the judiciary, health and the state-owned university have been on strike for several months.
