Fulani Herdsmen Strike Again, Kidnap Traditional Ruler

Oba Adebisi Obademi, the traditional ruler of Apaa-Bunu community in the Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi state has been kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The Punch reports that the abduction happened at 7.30am on Wednesday, September 30, close to the Traditional ruler’s domain when 5 gunmen intercepted him and kidnapped him.

Mr. Duro Meseko, the senior special adviser to Governor Idris Wada of the state lamented about the increasing cases of kidnapping in the area. He urged security operatives to step up their operation in the state.

An anonymous source close to Emmanuel Ojukwu who is the commissioner of the police in the state said the case had been reported to the police. However, residents have allegedly stalled attempts by the police to attack the kidnappers’ hideout pleading that they would rather pay the ransom than endanger the lives of those kidnapped.

The kidnapping case is happening just a week after Chief OOlu Fales, a foremost Yoruba politician and former secretary to the federal government was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen. He reportedly paid a hefty sum as ransom to the kidnappers before he was released.

Femi fani-Kayode condemned the kidnapping of Olu Falae and described Fulani Herdsmen as people from hell. His comment was rebuked by the National Human Rights Commission  who stated his comment was derogatory.
