October 1 Massacre: Shooter Kills 10, Injures 7 (Photos/Video)
A 26-year-old gunman named Chris Harper-Mercer attacked a college in Oregon on Thursday, October 1, killing at least 10 people and injuring 7 after reportedly asking victims to state their religion.

Telegraph reports that the gunman, who was said to have been born in UK, opened fire in a science classroom at the Umpqua Community College and was armed with three handguns and what police described as a “long gun”.
After the first shots, Chris allegedly moved from classroom to classroom, killing victims in different rooms.
Witnesses said that the attack lasted a full minute.
The shooting however came to an end following a gunfight that resorted in the death of the gunman.

Crime scene markings, the shooter reportedly moved from class to class, gunning down students.
Witnesses described scenes of terror and panic as the tragedy unfolded at the school located in a picturesque region of Oregon.
Additional security forces have been deployed in the area
Oregon police was on red alert on Thursday, October 1.
A candle light prayer session was held on Thursday Night.
Friends and family members of the murdered, gathered at a candle light session on Thursday night.
Oregon people held a candle light service, as Obama addressed the nation.
Meanwhile, the Oregon attack is said to have triggered an impassionate response from President Barack Obama.

Obama in his response to the shooting said: “our thoughts and prayers are not enough” as he renewed his call for reform of gun laws. “Somehow this has been become routine.”
“The reporting is routine. My response on this podium is routine,” the US President said.
Obama, who was visibly angry, made a case for gun control, lashing out at the Congress for its failure to act in the face of such killings.
He said: “Somehow this has become routine,” said the president. “We’ve become numb to this. We are the only advanced country on Earth that sees these kinds of mass shootings every few months,” he added. It cannot be this easy for somebody who wants to inflict harm on other people to get his or her hands on a gun.”
