SAD: How Fire Outbreak In Naval Barracks Killed Two Siblings (Photo)

Two siblings were on Friday, October 15, burnt to death in an early morning fire outbreak that razed a three bedroom flat in Navy Officers’ quarters, Camp site, Kirikiri, Lagos state.

The inferno which occurred at about 3:30 am killed two brothers aged 6 and 9 years, The Nation reports.

Their father, a Navy Captain, was out of town with their mother when the incident occurred.

The fire was said to have been put out by a combined team of Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and policemen from the Kirikiri division, at about 4:30 am.

Although reports claim that the fire broke out when all the four occupants of the flat were fast asleep, Patience the house maid,  rescued the couple’s first son, Ayomide, 13.

The younger sons unfortunately did not survive the inferno allegedly caused by an electrical surge from one of the rooms in the building.

LASEMA’s General Manager, Micheal Akindele said the remains of the deceased were taken to Navy hospital, adding that the other two occupants of the building were treated by LASAMBUS. He noted that they were also taken to Navy hospital for further examination and treatment.

The victims were children of the owner of the station located in front of Osogbo Grammar School.
