What The Hell! Mechanic kills best friend over ex-girlfriend

A 25-year-old mechanic has been arrested for murdering his friend over an ex-girlfriend.

A 25-year-old mechanic, Usman Abubakar, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his best friend, Adio Jimoh, to death in the Iyana-Oba, Ojo area of the state, as reported by the Punch.

The duo, according to the reports, had an altercation over Abubakar’s ex-girlfriend, identified as Ayinke, after he had told her he was calling quits.

The lady who was not willing to let go, went to meet some of Abubakar’s friends so that they could appeal to him to take her back but at the reconciliatory meeting, Abubakar reportedly beat up Ayinke, who reported the matter to his friends.

His friends allegedly went to attack him for beating up the lady and in the process, he stabbed Jimoh to death and fled the area for sometime before he was trailed and arrested by the police from the Ojo Division of the Command.

The suspect, during interrogation, said he only acted in self-defence as his friends including the deceased had attacked him first and did not wean to kill Jimoh.

“Jimoh was my friend and I did not have any misunderstanding with him before that fateful day. On September 13, around 9pm, I was in the house of one of my friends, Riliwan, when I saw my former girlfriend, Ayinke, enter the room with her friend, Olamide.

I immediately warned her and ask her to leave, but she did not answer me. She started abusing me and later grabbed me by the shirt and when I saw it was getting out of hand, I forced myself out of her hands.

Later that night, six of my friends including Jimoh came to my house to attack me, saying I beat up Ayinke. They had broken bottles and knives with them.

They did not even bother to listen to my side of the story. Jimoh first gave me a punch before another one hit me. Jimoh then brought out a knife and I tried to snatch it from him. I succeeded in getting the knife from him and stabbed him in the chest.

I ran to a police post and it was there some members of the Oodua People’s Congress came to identify me through my photo that I was the one that killed Jimoh.”
