Speaking when he received national leaders of the Jamaatul Izalatul Bid’a wa Iqatatus sunna (JIBWIS) in Sokoto Tuesday, Tambuwal religious groups have important roles to play in enlightening the people about skewed ideologies which are responsible for insurgency.
He said people should be very vigilant and to assist the security agencies in their responsibilities to secure the nation.
Earlier in his remarks, JIBWIS national leader, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir commended Tambuwal in his efforts to enhance unity and understanding among various religions groups in the country.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that media should stop “giving oxygen to the Boko Haram”, adding that the war cannot be successful without the cooperation of newsmen.
The minister of information believes the Nigerian army has mainly succeeded in defeating the insurgency because the militants are now “only operating from one or two local governments”.
