Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has said the state government will rebuild the Kara Yankatako market which

Speaking when visited the scene of the fire incidence in Sokoto, Tambuwal said a committee has been set up to ascertain the causes of the fire and make necessary recommendations to government.

He said government will put in place adequate safety measures that will ensure an end to frequent fires at public places.

Meanwhile, the state government has set up a committee to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the fire that razed down parts of Kara Yankatako market.

The committee, to be headed by Alhaji Bello Adamu, has Alhaji Mujtaba Ahmed as deputy chairman while Abubakar A. Abubakar of the state Civil Service Commission (CSC) will serve as the Secretary.

Other members of the committee, which has one month to conclude its assignment, include representatives of the Police, SSS, civil defence corps and the state Fire Service Department.

The rest include representative of the state ministries of Justice, Lands, Home Affairs and the General Manager of the state Central Market.

The committee, according to a statement issued by governor Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, will make recommendations to government on how to prevent future occurrence, and advise on the appropriate assistance the government may render to the victims.
