– Ogun state police arrested three suspected cultists
– Locally made gun, charms and a car was recovered from the suspected cultists
– The cultists have been terrorising residents of Oke-Oko and Igborufu communities
Three suspected cultists were arrested over the weekend by the Ogun state police command. The suspects were said to have been terrorising Oke-Oko and Igborufu communities at Ogijo area in Sagamu local government area of the state on Saturday around 5:00 pm.
The suspects are; Lekan Babatunde, Segun Owodunni and Musa Ibrahim.

Items recovered from them included one locally made single barelled gun, live cartridges, cutlasses, photographs of some suspected members, charms and a car with Reg. No. LAGOS VF 117 KJA.
According to a press release signed by the state police public relations officer, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the trio were picked up at different locations within the state.
The statement further explained that one of the suspects, Lekan Babatunde was arrested in the house of one, Yusuf Muftau, who is the ring leader but now at large.
“The suspects, who had assembled at Oke-Oko for a meeting and initiation of some newly recruited members, fled the scene when the police operatives attached to Ogijo division of the command, led by the divisional police officer, pounced on them.
“With a good follow up of useful information given to the police, the suspects were rounded up and arrested,” the statement said.
Residents of these communities, who have been victims of all these cult related crises commended the police for the good job and eventual arrest of the notorious and deadly hoodlums, who, according to the release, “have imposed fears in the minds of the general public in the axis of the state.”

The state commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali appreciated everybody, who have assisted the police with useful intelligence on the suspects which led to their arrest.
Ali assured the people and residents of Ogun that the suspects will be transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad,SARS office in Magbon area, Abeokuta for thorough investigation and possible reconciliation of the arrest with previous or pending cult related cases in the command.
The Police boss, however, warned officers and men of the state police command not to compromise the fight against cultism in the state as, according to Ali, “it remains the best weapon to tackle all crimes and social vices, for cultism is the root of all evils.”
