President Buhari has urged the new Olubadan, Oba Adetunji to diligently work peace and development in Ibadan, Oyo state and Nigeria.

The President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the new Olubadan, Oba Adetunji to do his utmost best in his new role as the chief custodian of the traditions of his.

The president gave this charge in his congratulates message to the new traditional ruler contained in a statement through Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, on Friday, March 4.

“President Buhari joins the indigenes of Ibadan, the family of the new Olubadan, the government and people of Oyo State in celebrating Oba Adetunji’s ascension to the ancient throne of his forefathers. 

As he ascends the throne as the 41st Olubadan, President Buhari urges Oba Adetunji to follow in the worthy and commendable footsteps of his predecessors by working diligently for peace and development in Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria,” the statement read in part.

Buhari assured the monarch of his “full support and cooperation of the Federal Government as he strives to lead his people forward and contribute meaningfully to the development of his domain, Oyo State and the nation”.

Buhari also prayed that “God will grant Oba Adetunji long life, good health and the wisdom he needs for a successful reign”.

Oba Saliu Olasupo Adetuji is the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land, his coronation tool place yesterday, March 4 in Ibadan.

Present at the coronation ceremony were many  first class kings in Nigeria including the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Enitan Ogunwusi, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar IV; Emir of Ilorin; Oba of Lagos, Riliwan Akiolu; Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and other kings.
