Fuel scarcity: Lagosians wait in vain for public transportation (PHOTOS)

by Kolapo Olapoju and Hycinth Iyereosa

Nigerians, especially Lagosians, felt the effect of the prevalent fuel scarcity this morning, Monday, May 25.

For many workers and schoolkids, getting to their respective destination was a struggle as the fare prices were either astronomically jacked up and in most cases, their simply weren’t enough commercial buses.

With fuel being sold in the black market for between N400-N650 (depending on the location), many of the commercial bus owners are reluctant to purchase, as profit cannot be guaranteed at the end of the day.

The resultant effect- many people have become stranded at bus stops and some were forced to return home and wait for the oil marketers and Federal Government to reach an accord or come to a compromise that will see fuel released to the masses.

See below, photos from various bus stops within Surulere, in Lagos.
